MOLLY MOYLAN BROWN conducts live and online creative writing classes for an international audience of native and non-native English speakers. Molly brings her unique background as a writer, director, and performer to her workshops. Her methodology is based on the idea that we all contribute to, and are enhanced by, the larger, transformative ‘we’ that arises when we embrace our individual differences and celebrate our shared humanity through empowered self-expression and storytelling. In her creative writing and expressive arts classes with both experienced and emerging writers she often partners with other practitioners from the worlds of the expressive arts and healing practices to offer an enriching experience in personal transformation and community vitality.
A member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, and SDC, Molly is a professionally-trained and award-winning actor. She founded and directed Some Assembly Required, a New York City-based theatre company that employed collaborative storytelling and improvisation both to entertain and to teach self-expression, empathetic listening, negotiation skills, and cross-cultural understanding. Her work at US universities has ranged from guest-taught workshops to serving as Adjunct Professor at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts in the Screenwriting & Playwriting and Acting departments. In addition to her work as a teacher, writing coach, and developmental editor, she has published flash fiction, poems and short stories.
Molly holds a Master of Letters in Creative Writing with distinction from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Philosophy in Film & Theatre with distinction from Trinity College, Dublin.
Molly is a certified Amherst Writers & Artists (AWA) Workshop Leader, a certified Facilitator of Training in Expressive Arts in Transition (EXIT), and a certified Montessori teacher.
Molly has completed training in Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication in Berlin. She was awarded The Order of Malta for her initiatives on behalf of women, children and refugees living in Berlin.
Molly holds a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Research, Leadership & Training in Expressive Arts Therapy , Education & Consulting, from the Arts, Health & Society Division of The European Graduate School in Switzerland. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate in Expressive Arts at The European Graduate School. She splits her time between Berlin and New York City.
