MOLLY MOYLAN BROWN works from a single conviction: that we are each elevated by the larger, transformative we that arises when we embrace our individual differences and celebrate our shared humanity through empowered self-expression and storytelling. Bringing together her backgrounds as a writer, director, and performer, she designs creative writing and expressive arts experiences where individual voice strengthens collective discovery — often partnering with other practitioners from the worlds of expressive arts and healing to deepen the work of personal transformation and community vitality.

Molly has always been drawn to creative collaboration as a way to build community. Her trainings — in New York and beyond, several of them ongoing — gave that impulse its theory, frameworks, and processes. From the theatre come practices in collaborative devising and embodied presence: work with Anne Bogart and SITI Company, Mary Overlie's Six Viewpoints, and Augusto Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed, alongside foundational acting training with Uta Hagen and in the Meisner technique. From writing come the tools of voice and craft, sharpened by the precision of Liz Lerman and John Borstel's structured feedback and the generative warmth of Claire Keegan and Natalie Goldberg. And from Expressive Arts comes the framework that holds these together — the intermodal practice of moving between art forms in service of expression and change. Together these have sharpened how she designs and facilitates collaborations that strengthen individual voice and build small communities of social capital.

A member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, and SDC, Molly is a professionally-trained and award-winning actor. She founded and directed Some Assembly Required, a New York City-based theatre company that employed collaborative storytelling and improvisation to entertain and to deliver customized workshops — in self-expression, empathetic listening, negotiation skills, and cross-cultural understanding — to schools, universities, non-profit organizations, and corporations. Her work at US universities has ranged from guest-taught workshops to serving as Adjunct Professor at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in the Screenwriting & Playwriting and Acting departments. In addition to her work as a teacher, writing coach, and developmental editor, she has published flash fiction, poems, and short stories.

Molly's training has been as much in structures of expression as in the crafts themselves. She holds a Master of Letters in Creative Writing with distinction from the University of Glasgow and a Master of Philosophy in Film & Theatre with distinction from Trinity College Dublin, where her research documented The Wedding Community Play Project, a landmark of cross-community theatre staged in Belfast against the backdrop of the 1998 Good Friday Agreement. She is a certified Amherst Writers & Artists Workshop Leader, a certified Facilitator of Training in Expressive Arts in Transition (EXIT), a certified Montessori teacher, a certified Critical Response Process® Practitioner, and a Certified Story Exchange Facilitator.

Molly has completed advanced training in Marshall Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication and serves as a training assistant, guiding new participants through their intensive first year. Her initiatives on behalf of women, children, and refugees living in Berlin were recognized with the Order of Malta.

As a Doctoral Candidate in Expressive Arts at the European Graduate School — where she also earned a Certificate of Graduate Studies in Research, Leadership & Training in Expressive Arts Therapy, Education & Consulting — she explores cultural hybridity and belonging through collaborative creative practice; her dissertation fieldwork is based in Berlin. This work continues a lifelong commitment to using creative methodologies as pathways to cross-cultural understanding.

She teaches live and online for an international community of native and non-native English speakers, and her work has taken her from South Africa and Brazil to Singapore, Switzerland, the UK, Ireland, and Spain. She is based between Berlin and New York City.
